Trauma-Informed Care For Recovery Professionals

6-Hours


This training is facilitated live or virtually via Zoom.  Deb Rhoades will deliver this 6-hour training. For virtual zoom trainings, participants must have access to both audio and video connection and must fully participate.


This Rhoades to Recovery Training is approved through 4/2024 by ASAP-NYCB for CRPA and CARC Continuing Education renewal hours. It is also approved by OASAS for CASAC, CPP and CPS Renewal Hours.  Social Work Continuing Education hours are available upon request.


2024 Training Schedule

This training was developed by the Institute on Trauma and Trauma Informed Care as a Train the Trainer for NYS OASAS.  This training provides an overview of trauma and the importance of applying a trauma-informed care framework in all prevention, treatment and recovery support settings.  This training is appropriate for all behavioral health professionals.


  1. Consider their world view, work, role and agency/organization within the context of the three levels of trauma practice.
  2. Define Trauma and different types of trauma.
  3. Explain the findings of the ACEs study and understand how trauma/adversity impacts individuals.
  4. Discuss the relationship between trauma and SUD.
  5. Define re-traumatization, how it may occur and recognize potential signs of re-traumatization.
  6. Define the Trauma-Informed Care paradigm shift, the values and principles of TIC.
  7. Using a case study, appropriate for the participants work setting, apply learning by identifying what symptoms might indicate a history of trauma and identify the 5 principles of TIC in this case situation.
