ACES, Trauma, and Trauma-Informed Care

6-Hours


This training is facilitated live or virtually via Zoom.  Deb Rhoades will deliver this 6-hour training. For virtual zoom trainings, participants must have access to both audio and video connection and must fully participate.


This Rhoades to Recovery Training is approved through 4/2024 by ASAP-NYCB for CRPA and CARC Continuing Education renewal hours. It is also approved by OASAS for CASAC, CPP and CPS Renewal Hours.  Social Work Continuing Education hours are available upon request.


2024 Training Schedule

This 6-hour training The goal of this training is to provide participants with the introductory knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and Trauma Informed Care. This knowledge will inform and guide participants to use and implement a trauma-informed framework when working with clients with a SUD and consider the critical question: “what happened to this person” instead of “what is wrong with this person”. 


This training will cover: 

1. The Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Implications for Adulthood

2. Definition of Trauma

3. The Impact of Trauma on Development and Behavior

4. Defining Trauma Informed Care

5. The Relationship between Trauma and Behavioral Health

6. Coping with Secondary Exposure to Trauma
