Addiction Counselor Ethics:

Ethical Decision Making and

Professional Conduct

6-Hours


This training is facilitated live or virtually via Zoom.  Deb Rhoades, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Master CASAC, will deliver this 6-hour training. For virtual zoom trainings, participants must have access to both audio and video connection and must fully participate.


This Rhoades to Recovery Training is approved by OASAS for CASAC, CPP and CPS Renewal Hours and meets the Ethics Training requirement for re-credentialing.  Social Work Continuing Education hours are available upon request.

2024 Training Schedule

Participants will enhance their understanding of ethical issues that can arise in addiction counseling and fully understand the OASAS Canon of Ethics and the Justice Center Code of Conduct. Participants will learn a Ethical Decision Making Model and be able to apply this model moving forward in their treatment settings.


Participants will:

  1. Increase their knowledge and review the definitions of ethics.
  2. Increase “ethical sensitivity” to the ethical landscape of addiction counseling.
  3. Enhance ethical decision-making abilities through exposure to a model of ethical decision making.
  4. Understand ethical boundaries for professional behavior.
  5. Identify and practice boundary setting behaviors through interactive discussion, exercises, and role play.
  6. Increase knowledge of ethical concerns and need for clear client/counselor boundaries related to the use of technology including texting, social media, email etc.
  7. Increase knowledge and understanding of NYS Justice Center Code of Conduct, requirements, and professional responsibility.
  8. Provide guidelines to reduce your ethical vulnerability as an addiction counselor.
